🌿 Glass Fused Garden Stake Class 🌿 📍 My Girlfriend’s Jewelry Box – Waverly, NY 📅 Wednesday, July 2 at 6:30 PM 📍 222 Broad St, Waverly, NY 14892 🎨 No experience needed – all ages welcome! ⚠️ Only 13 spots available Join us for a night of creativity and color at My Girlfriend’s Jewelry Box, a one-of-a-kind, eccentric bead shop in the heart of Waverly, NY. Known for its eclectic charm, vibrant inventory, and artsy energy, this cozy boutique also hosts creative classes! In this hands-on session, you’ll design and build a fused glass garden stake—a whimsical, dinner-plate-sized artwork mounted on a 3-foot stainless steel pole that we treat with rust-resistant black spray paint. Students can choose from whimsical base designs like a dragonfly 🐉, butterfly 🦋, or flower 🌸. You may also request a custom base shape—such as a cat 🐱, dog 🐶, bird 🐦 etc. 🧙‍♂️—at no extra charge to request. Custom shapes will be priced according to how much glass is required to complete the design. We will pre fuse the bases before the class. If you sign up after June29, your piece might be glued together and not be fired together for you to work on depending on our kiln scheduling. Students will learn how to confidently cut and shape glass using professional tools and techniques. You'll learn to lay out and build your chosen design, layer glass elements for dimension, and use many forms of glass mediums. We’ll also teach you how to work with specialty decorative elements like glass stringers, crushed frit powders, handmade glass dots, flower murrini, and glass lace. Every student will have access to our world-renowned collection of both opaque and transparent colored glass sheets, offering a truly limitless palette. By the end of class, they’ll not only complete a beautiful sculpture, but also a solid foundation in fused glass techniques. Each participant will receive a pre-fired clear glass base. Custom-colored bases are available for an additional fee but it is not needed to create a wildly colorful art piece. Choosing red, pink or purple will be more expensive than other colored bases as these colors require gold to be made. After class, all pieces will be taken to Jablon Studios for kiln firing and pole attachment. Please allow 3 weeks for final pick. For long-term stability, we also offer an anchoring kit for $40—a lightweight bucket filled with expanding deck post foam to buried in the yard to endure long lasting wobble free success!
