Reserve your seat now to guarantee your spot. Join us for a hands-on fused glass class at Jablon Studios, a world-renowned glass art studio located in Vestal, NY. This class offers full access to our expansive inventory of premium glass sheets, tools, supplies, and specialty materials. You’ll work in a professional glassworking environment and learn everything a full studio experience has to offer—perfect for beginners and returning students alike! In this special session, you’ll design and create a glass fused bird garden stake—a vibrant and whimsical outdoor sculpture, about the size of a dinner plate, mounted on a 3-foot stainless steel pole coated in rust-resistant black spray paint. You can create any kind of bird you like: a fun cartoon-style chicken 🐔, a colorful parakeet 🦜, a striking blue jay, or a completely original bird of your own imagination! Students will learn how to cut and shape fusible glass safely, assemble and layer their design using professional adhesives, and bring their vision to life using glass stringers, frit powders, lace, handmade glass dots, and flower murrini. With access to our full collection of opaque and transparent colored glass, the creative possibilities are endless. Instructors will guide students through the entire design and layout process, while also introducing them to proper studio techniques and tools for fused glass assembly and garden sculpture building. Custom-colored bases are available for an additional fee. If you'd like a red, pink, purple bases are more expensive than most colors as these colors require 24KT gold to be made and are priced accordingly. After class, your bird sculpture will be kiln-fired and professionally mounted to its pole at Jablon Studios. Please allow 2–3 weeks for pickup. An optional anchoring kit is available for $40, which includes a bucket filled with expanding deck post foam— that will keep your garden stake secure. We recommend inserting the pole at least 1.5 feet into the ground for best results. While these pieces are durable, we recommend bringing them indoors for the winter. 🚫 No refunds, but your class credit can be used for any of our six weekly Open Studio sessions or transferred to a future class.
